The University of Puerto Rico School of Law was founded in 1913.  It is presently located on the University of Puerto Rico Río Piedras Campus, within the metropolitan area of San Juan.  The University of Puerto Rico Law School is accredited by the American Bar Association since 1945 and by the Association of American Law Schools since 1948.  It is also accredited by the Council on Higher Education and the Puerto Rico Supreme Court.

The guiding principle behind our academic program is to increase and diversify the learning and development experiences of our students. Our students can take courses ranging from the theoretical to the practical including topics pertaining to civil rights, technology, feminism, therapeutic jurisprudence, business, international relations, cyber and comparative law. 

The Law School offers the Juris Doctor Degree and several joint programs with the University of Barcelona, the University of Minnesota, the University of Puerto Rico Graduate School of Business Administration and the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. It is currently working toward a joint Juris Doctor and Master in Engineering Sciences Program with the University of Puerto Rico Campus at Mayaguez. The Law School also offers a graduate program LL.M. for Latin American and Caribbean Lawyers.

Among the special programs offered by the School of Law are the student exchange programs, the Clinical program and the Pro Bono services program.  Our faculty is made up of 31 full time professors, trained in the most prestigious institutions of the world, with a special sensitivity to transcultural and transnational issues and concerns.  They contribute to projects with international implications, and form part of diverse academic bodies and institutions.
